German Crypto Firm Owned by Deutsche Börse Receives Crypto Licenses Ahead of Exchange Launch
Crypto Finance, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse, has secured four key licenses from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), boosting its position in the regulated crypto market and fueling anticipation for the upcoming Deutsche Börse digital exchange.
Already regulated in Switzerland, Crypto Finance (Deutschland) can now offer regulated digital asset trading, settlement, and custody services to institutions in Germany. This move strengthens its role as a leading provider of institutional-grade crypto products and services.
The licenses arrive as Deutsche Börse gears up to launch its own digital exchange, DBDX, targeting institutional investors. Crypto Finance’s expertise and regulatory compliance position it well to play a major role within this new ecosystem.
Furthermore, the BaFin licenses align Crypto Finance with the upcoming Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework, solidifying its commitment to transparency and security in the crypto space. This move stands in contrast to Binance’s recent rejection for a crypto custody license, highlighting Crypto Finance’s compliance-driven approach.
The acquisition of Crypto Finance by Deutsche Börse in 2021 solidified the company’s position in the European crypto market. With its existing presence on the SIX exchange in Switzerland and now its German licenses, Crypto Finance boasts a strong European footprint.
